National inclusion week is the annual celebration of recognising inclusion in all shapes and sizes. The week highlights the importance of educating employers on their role for equality.
Encourage your employees to think about and reflect upon area’s that they would like to improve in, whilst not forgetting to celebrate the success they have achieved through diversion and inclusion whilst at work.
National Inclusion Week is all about inspiring small actions that can lead to much bigger change. Make your organisation inclusive by ensuring employees are valued and can contribute towards the success of the company.
To be inclusive you should start with:
• Communication – Create and display posters to explain the importance of being inclusive. Try sending an email to your employees including links to certain websites that are necessary and up to date.
• Lead by example – Reflect on your own position of how you have managed past incidents and what you have learnt from this. Did this lead to changes in policies and procedures?
• Create a safe space – With many different religions, cultures and identities working within a single office, it can be difficult to cater to all your employees. A designated space will allow employees to have confidential discussions and a quiet zone for them to feel comfortable.
